10,000 to receive clean water as RebuildGaza24 refurbishes Tel al-Hawa well

A Palestinian-led grassroots initiative, RebuildGaza24, has refurbished a vital water well in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood. The initiative restored access to clean water for approximately 10,000 residents who had endured months of severe shortages.

Water crisis in Gaza deepens as war destroys 85% of infrastructure, says RebuildGaza24

A statement by RebuildGaza24 reveals that the project ends the desperate reality for families. This is especially for those who were forced to wait in line for three to four days just to secure a basic supply of water.

Findings by Charity Journal reveal that the situation in Gaza remains critical, with families surviving on a meagre three to five litres of water per person per day.

According to recent assessments by RebuildGaza24, over 85% of the region’s water infrastructure was damaged or destroyed in the aftermath of the armed conflict with Israel. It also leaves total water output at only about 35% of pre-war levels.

“This well will provide continuous water access, removing the need to wait in long lines for a basic supply. It is a direct response to a life-threatening need,”a spokesperson for RebuildGaza24 stated.

RebuildGaza24 operates as a direct, project-by-project support network for displaced families across Gaza. Distancing itself from traditional non-governmental organizations, the group emphasizes that it does not receive government grants.

It emphasizes that every intervention, from water tanks to medical points and shelter support, is funded directly by public donations.

Handala Relief Project joins efforts, distributing winter aid to vulnerable families

The RebuildGaza24 initiative in Tel al-Hawa runs parallel to the ongoing efforts of the Handala Relief Project.

Handala’s volunteers have distributed hundreds of blankets. This also includes winter clothing, offering warmth and safety to those who have lost everything.

“Seeing their smiles after receiving something warm to wear brought hope back into our hearts,” a representative from Handala Relief Project shared.

The group has also distributed essential food parcels to displaced families. Both organizations are appealing for continued international support.

Meanwhile, it stressed that no family in Gaza should be left without warmth or food, seeking the support of the public to keep going.

In a recent development, ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, World Central Kitchen (WCK) has commenced the distribution of 100,000 food kits to families in Gaza.

Additionally, the death toll in Gaza has been steadily rising following an increase in Israeli attacks in the region. These attacks continue despite the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
