About
The Cullen Foundation is a private foundation established in 1947 by Hugh Roy and Lillie Cullen, prominent Houston philanthropists whose giving helped shape the city’s healthcare, education and cultural institutions. Based in Houston, the foundation continues their tradition of supporting organizations that improve the lives of people in the region.
Its grantmaking is primarily directed toward healthcare, education, human services, arts and culture, and community development. The foundation supports hospitals, universities, nonprofits and other institutions through grants for programs, capital projects and other community needs. Much of its philanthropy remains focused on the Houston area, where it has played a longstanding role in strengthening organizations and expanding services for local residents.
