About
The Henry Smith Charity is a UK grantmaking charity established in 1628 through the will of Henry Smith, a wealthy London merchant and former Lord Mayor of London. It supports charitable organizations and projects that improve the lives of people experiencing disadvantage, hardship or social exclusion, with grantmaking extending across England and Wales.
Its funding reaches a diverse range of needs, including poverty, disability, homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health, older people and support for children and families. The charity provides grants to voluntary organizations, with funding available for areas such as core costs, specific projects, salaries, equipment and capital needs. By directing resources toward organizations working closely with disadvantaged communities, it aims to help address immediate needs while strengthening the services available to people facing difficult circumstances.
