About

The Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening homes and protecting families from natural and manmade disasters. Founded in 1998, the organization promotes disaster safety, mitigation, preparedness, and community resilience.

FLASH helps families and communities reduce the risks and impacts associated with disasters by providing practical information, tools, and educational resources. Its work addresses hazards such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, wildfires, extreme heat, hail, lightning, and winter storms.

The organization develops public education programs and resilience initiatives that help people prepare for disasters and strengthen their homes. Its work includes programs focused on hurricane, tornado, earthquake, and wildfire preparedness, as well as initiatives promoting stronger and more resilient homes.

FLASH also works with government agencies, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and other partners to advance disaster resilience and safer construction practices. Through education, partnerships, policy initiatives, and community resources, the organization works to protect lives and property while helping communities become better prepared for future disasters.
