About Single Homeless Project

Single Homeless Project is a London-based homelessness charity supporting more than 10,000 people each year. Its work includes preventing homelessness, providing safe accommodation and helping people rebuild their lives through personalised support.

The charity focuses on building trusting relationships, challenging barriers to housing and opportunity, and helping people move towards greater stability and independence. SHP promotes an inclusive, equitable and anti-oppressive working environment, with colleagues who bring both professional expertise and lived experience.

The Role

The Housing First Support Worker will join SHP’s expanding Camden Housing First service, supporting people with long histories of rough sleeping, multiple disadvantage and complex, overlapping needs. The service is also developing support for couples who have experienced rough sleeping and will live separately in their own self-contained flats while receiving intensive, personalised assistance.

Based in King’s Cross, the successful candidate will work in the community and in clients’ homes, managing a small caseload to provide flexible, persistent and trauma-informed support. The role focuses on building trust, sustaining tenancies, promoting wellbeing and recovery, and helping clients work towards their own goals while respecting their choices and individual circumstances.

  • Coordinate with housing partners and specialist colleagues, including health professionals, psychology, Solace, occupational therapy and perpetrator support services.

  • Advocate for clients and communicate effectively with partner organisations.

  • Maintain accurate records, update support plans and manage day-to-day caseload responsibilities.

Requirements

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Ability to build trust through patience, consistency and creative engagement.

  • Understanding of the connections between severe and multiple disadvantage, violence against women and girls (VAWG), coercion, abuse, exploitation and safeguarding.

  • Strong communication, advocacy and negotiation skills.
