With racing suits, helmets, and other rare collectibles up for grabs, this initiative isn’t just about owning a piece of motorsport history but driving real change where needed most.

Alonso’s 400th race suit could fetch a fortune

The Real Federación Española de Automovilismo (RFEDA), also known as the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation, has been Spain’s highest sports authority for competitive motor racing since 1968. This entity, which has over 20,000 members, promotes the organization of championships, cups, trophies, and challenges on the national scene, ensuring the application of the regulations and the proper development of the tests in collaboration with the FIA 1. Until 2000, the official name was the Spanish Automobile Federation (FEA).

Fernando Alonso, the two-time Formula 1 world champion, is among the contributors who are offering his suit. It was worn for his 400th career race, and the excitement surrounding it is that it is electrifying. According to experts, it could fetch as much as €10,000.

Celebrated drivers like Nani Roma, Dani Sordo, and Luis Climent are also contributing their quota, making the auction not just limited to  Formula 1. The collection spans different racing disciplines, including suits and helmets worn in high-profile events like the Dakar Rally and the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.

“The collection of pieces in this auction reflects the impressive legacy of Spanish drivers in the automotive world and provides a unique opportunity for sports enthusiasts to acquire one-of-a-kind items with significant economic, sentimental, and charitable value,” emphasized the Catawiki’s sports collecting expert, Marc.

Passion meets humanitarian effort

This initiative is not only about collectibles but about making a significant impact in the lives of those affected by the recent flood. The funds garnered from the auction will go to the Fundación Solidaridad Sobre Ruedas, which is committed to providing mobility solutions such as motorcycles and cars to victims struggling to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of the recent floods.

It is a rare privilege for motorsport fans to own exclusive racing gear while contributing to a noble cause. Whether you’re a die-hard collector or an admirer, the opportunity to bid on history while supporting flood survivors makes this event special.

The charity auction runs until March 4, 2025, exclusively on Catawiki, under the guidance of RFEDA. With expected high-profile contributions and competitive bidding, now is the time to secure a piece of racing history while helping those in need, every bid is more than just an offer; it’s a statement of solidarity, proving that the motorsport community stands united in times of crisis.

As corporate giants and celebrities united to raise over $30M+ for the Los Angeles wildfire relief campaign, the motorsports community is now rallying to support the flood victims. This proves that when communities come together, they can create powerful change in times of crisis.
