Eligible organisations must be currently making an impact on their local communities, people and the environment. The organisation must also have an annual income of £50,000 to be eligible. The fund distributes up to £60,000 annually, awarding between £2,000 and £5,000 per organisation through quarterly funding rounds.

Who Can Apply to the Matthew Good Foundation Grants for Good Fund

    • Eligible organisation types: Small charitable organisations, voluntary groups and social enterprises. 
  • Registration requirements:
  • The applicant organisation must be based in the United Kingdom.
  • They must have an annual income of at least £50,000
  • The organisation must have a bank account in its name.
  • Geographic eligibility: United Kingdom
  • Sector or thematic focus: Positive impact on local communities, people or the environment

Application Process

  • Visit the official application website and submit an application online before the due date.
  • For the longlisting stage, the grant panel reviews all applications and contacts organisations moving to the next stage of funding. 
  • In the shortlisting stage,  five applicants are selected, and £15,000 is shared based on the voting process by John Good Group employees.

Key Dates

  • Application deadline: 15 March, 15 June, 15 September, 15 December
  • Notification timeline: Announcements are made quarter depending on the application deadline.

The application for the grant submission runs quarterly, that is, it is open 4 times a year. 

  • For February to March funding, the application opens and closes: 16 September to 15 December. 
  • For the June to May funding, the application opens and closes: 16 December to 15 March
  • For the September to August funding, the application opens and closes: 16 March to 15 June
  • For November to December funding, the application opens and closes: 16 June to 15 September

Selection Notes

    • The grant is highly competitive, with a high number of applications received each funding quarter.
    • Priority focus areas: Priority for initiatives that focus on positive impact on the local community, people or environment.
  • Exclusions:
  • Projects that have links to major organisations.
  • Organisations not based in the UK
