About The EPA Environmental Education Grants

The Environmental Education Grant is sponsored by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It is a federal agency that focuses on improving environmental awareness and education across the 50 states in the US. The 2026 grant programme seeks to support NGOs, colleges and universities, environmental and state education agencies, with total funding of up to $3.2 million.

For each successful project, the agency will award between $200,000 and $250,000 to address issues such as environmental protection awareness and literacy, and to promote good health and responsible environmental decision-making. Since 1992, when the EPA began this grant programme, it has awarded 3,980 grants in support of local communities. The agency offers up to 16 grants in a funding year.
