The Role

Anthony Nolan is seeking a Senior Events Manager to join its Fundraising team on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This position plays a key role within the Challenge Events team, driving fundraising income through the successful management and growth of high-profile third-party sporting events.

The successful candidate will lead the development and delivery of challenge event fundraising activities, maximize supporter engagement, and ensure participants receive an exceptional fundraising experience. The role requires a highly experienced fundraising professional who can manage large-scale events, build strong supporter relationships, and contribute to the continued growth and innovation of Anthony Nolan’s fundraising portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Challenge Events Fundraising

  • Lead fundraising activity across major third-party sporting events, including marathon and running events
  • Maximize fundraising income and supporter participation
  • Develop strategies to increase recruitment and retention of event participants
  • Ensure supporters receive outstanding stewardship throughout their fundraising journey

Relationship Management and Supporter Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with event participants and supporters
  • Deliver high-quality stewardship to encourage fundraising success
  • Support high-value and long-term fundraising relationships
  • Act as an ambassador for Anthony Nolan at fundraising events and stakeholder engagements

Leadership and Team Development

  • Provide coaching-style management and support to team members
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams
  • Support colleagues in achieving agreed objectives and fundraising targets
  • Contribute to a positive and high-performing team culture

Planning, Budgeting and Marketing

  • Manage event budgets, forecasts, and financial reconciliations
  • Monitor performance against fundraising targets and objectives
  • Develop marketing initiatives to attract new participants
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and improve event recruitment strategies
  • Collaborate with internal teams on cross-organizational projects and campaigns

Requirements

  • Significant experience in challenge events fundraising
  • Experience working with high-profile sporting events such as marathons, runs, or similar fundraising events
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed fundraising targets
  • Strong supporter relationship management skills
  • Experience providing coaching-style management or team support
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Experience managing budgets, reconciliations, and financial forecasting
  • Marketing experience focused on participant acquisition and engagement
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of fundraising best practice within events and marketing
