The Role
Victim Support is recruiting a Director of Governance, Risk and Assurance to provide strategic leadership across governance, compliance, risk management, and quality assurance. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this newly created role will help strengthen organisational frameworks as the charity continues to grow, ensuring systems and processes remain robust, legally compliant, and aligned with its mission. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Board, providing independent assurance and constructive challenge to support effective decision-making and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Governance and Assurance
Lead the development and implementation of governance frameworks and policies.
Provide independent assurance to the Board and its Committees.
Ensure effective decision-making processes and organisational accountability.
Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and internal requirements.
Monitor emerging risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
Strategic Leadership
Serve as a trusted adviser to the Executive Leadership Team and Board.
Drive a culture of strong governance and continuous improvement.
Support the organisation in achieving its strategic priorities safely and effectively.
Quality and Organisational Improvement
Lead quality assurance activities across the charity.
Strengthen systems, controls, and evidence-based practices.
Build capability and promote best practice across teams.
About You
Significant senior leadership experience in governance, compliance, and risk management.
Experience working within a complex organisation.
Expertise in developing and embedding governance and assurance frameworks.
Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to lead organisational change and drive improvement.
Collaborative leadership style with sound judgement and strategic thinking.
