About IRMO

IRMO is a migrant-led charity supporting Latin American communities in the UK to overcome barriers and thrive. Through advice, education, youth services, and community programmes, the organisation empowers people to improve their wellbeing, access opportunities, and participate fully in society. Guided by values of solidarity, inclusion, and social justice, IRMO works alongside migrant and refugee communities to create lasting change and stronger futures.

The Role

IRMO is seeking a Youth Project Coordinator to lead the Latin American Youth Forum (LAYF), a youth-led programme supporting migrant and refugee young people aged 13–19. LAYF provides a safe, trilingual environment where participants can build confidence, improve their English, develop leadership skills, and access opportunities that support their integration and personal growth.

Working closely with young people, families, colleagues, and partner organisations, you will coordinate engaging activities, provide one-to-one mentoring, and ensure participants receive holistic support. This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about youth empowerment and community-led change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, register, and assess new participants for the LAYF programme.
  • Design and deliver creative workshops and activities that promote confidence, life skills, and social connection.
  • Provide one-to-one coaching focused on education, employment, volunteering, and personal development.
  • Organise quarterly trips, events, and community activities.
  • Signpost and refer young people to internal and external support services.
  • Maintain accurate records, attendance data, surveys, and coaching logs.
  • Monitor outcomes and manage programme data using organisational systems.
  • Develop case studies and success stories for reporting and communications.
  • Promote activities through newsletters and social media channels.
  • Recruit, supervise, and support volunteers.
  • Represent IRMO within partnerships and youth sector networks.
  • Ensure all activities meet safeguarding requirements and promote participant wellbeing.

Requirements

  • At least one year’s experience working with young people in the UK.
  • Experience designing and delivering youth programmes.
  • Experience providing one-to-one coaching or mentoring.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation tools and reporting processes.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and virtual communication tools.
  • Understanding of the barriers faced by young Latin Americans in the UK.
  • Commitment to IRMO’s mission and values.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting or supervising volunteers.
  • Fluency in Portuguese.
  • Qualification in Youth Work or Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG).
  • Knowledge of the UK nonprofit sector and youth education and employment systems.
