The Role

The Director of Operations is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the organisation’s core operational functions, including finance, human resources, administration, compliance, and organisational performance. This role ensures that internal systems, policies, and processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with strategic objectives. The post holder also provides leadership across day-to-day operations and may assume organisational responsibility in the absence of the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of organisational operations and internal systems
  • Manage financial operations including bookkeeping, monthly reporting, and budgeting using QuickBooks
  • Lead and coordinate the annual audit process, working directly with external auditors and ensuring compliance with all requirements
  • Oversee human resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee relations, and benefits administration
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks
  • Manage risk, administrative systems, IT coordination, and organisational infrastructure
  • Support data systems and performance reporting to improve decision-making and service delivery
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on strategic planning, budgeting, and organisational priorities
  • Act as liaison to the Board of Directors and support governance and finance committee functions

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a master’s degree in nonprofit management, business, finance, or a related field, or have equivalent professional experience. Strong leadership and operational management skills are essential, along with proven experience in financial oversight, HR systems, and compliance. Demonstrated experience using QuickBooks, supporting external audits, and managing employee benefits administration is required. Excellent communication, organisational ability, and problem-solving skills are essential, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
