The Salvation Army is a global Christian church and charity dedicated to supporting individuals and communities through practical action, social services, and faith-based outreach. Through its mission, the organization works to address poverty, homelessness, social exclusion, and other challenges while promoting spiritual growth and community wellbeing. Its Research and Development team plays a key role in identifying opportunities, developing innovative projects, and strengthening mission-focused services across the UK and Ireland.

Working with a wide range of stakeholders, you will manage project development from initial concept through to proposal and implementation stages. You will facilitate collaboration, support strategic planning, develop high-quality reports and proposals, and help ensure that projects align with organizational priorities and mission objectives.

This role requires regular travel across the North of England and occasional travel throughout the UK and Ireland. Flexibility to attend some evening meetings is also required.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and collaborative discussions.
  • Support partnership development and encourage cross-organizational collaboration.
  • Act as a trusted adviser throughout project development processes.

Strategic Planning and Reporting

  • Produce high-quality reports, proposals, presentations, and recommendations.

  • Support decision-making through research, consultation, and evidence gathering.
  • Contribute to the development of sustainable and impactful mission initiatives.

Faith and Mission Leadership

  • Demonstrate and communicate the purposes, aims, and mission of The Salvation Army through personal Christian faith.
  • Support spiritual discernment processes within project development activities.
  • Ensure projects reflect the organization’s values and Christian mission.

  • Outstanding relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions and bring diverse groups together.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple priorities and changing demands.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and attend occasional evening meetings.

Because of the nature of the role, there is an occupational requirement that applicants are practising and committed Christians who are actively involved in their local church and supportive of The Salvation Army’s beliefs, mission, and objectives.

  • Professional development opportunities
  • Flexible and collaborative working environment
