About the Wissenschaftskolleg Early Career Fellowship Program
Founded in 1981 and based in Berlin, the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin brings together approximately 40 fellows each year from across the world and across every discipline, creating one of the most genuinely interdisciplinary scholarly communities in existence. The Early Career program carves out a dedicated pathway for researchers within five years of their doctorate, offering them the same freedom, resources, and intellectual community available to senior fellows.

Funding Size
- Full residential fellowship with accommodation support and integration into Berlin life for the fellow and family
- Stipend and research support provided for the full fellowship duration
- Humanities and social sciences: 10-month fellowship (September 2027 to end of June 2028)
- Life and natural sciences: 3 to 5 months during the 2026/2027 academic year
Who Can Apply
- Early-career researchers with a doctorate awarded no more than five years before the start of the fellowship
