Abu Dhabi raises millions in Ramadan charity auction for orphans

Abu Dhabi online Ramadan charity auction of distinctive vehicle number plates has raised AED119.4 million ($32.51 million) to support orphans and combat global hunger. The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) hosted the ‘Most Noble Number’ auction, with all proceeds funding two major Ramadan 2026 charity campaigns.

The funds will support the Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans campaign and the Edge of Life campaign. This aims to provide critical aid to the world’s most vulnerable communities.

The auction featured 555 distinctive plates for private vehicles, motorcycles, and classic cars. Additionally, the collection included 11 plates from Category 2, 23 plates from Category 21, and 50 plates from Category 1.

Prominent figures from various economic sectors, charitable organisations, and individual philanthropists participated in the bidding.

However, His Excellency Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), attributed the auction’s success to the UAE community’s spirit of generosity.

“Guided by the vision of our wise leadership, such initiatives reinforce the values of solidarity and compassion that unite our society, while directing the power of collective giving towards supporting vulnerable communities and advancing humanitarian causes both locally and globally,” he said.

The Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans campaign, under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, seeks to create a sustainable financial foundation for orphan care. This is to ensure a more stable future for them.

The Edge of  Life campaign, an initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to raise at least AED1 billion. Similarly, organisers will invest these funds in combating hunger worldwide, with a target of saving five million children from starvation.

Dr. Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Mobility, confirmed the decision. He said organizing the auction reflects the centre’s commitment to supporting impactful humanitarian causes.

“We value the strong participation witnessed at the auction, which contributed to achieving significant proceeds that will positively impact the lives of thousands of beneficiaries,” Dr. AlGhfeli stated.

He further explained that the integration of efforts between the public and private sectors enhances their ability to create sustainable change in communities.

Meanwhile, a Dubai charity auction of exclusive vehicle plate numbers and premium mobile numbers has recently raised AED 91.405 million for the Edge of Life campaign.
