The Adani Foundation launched a mobile health unit to deliver essential medical services to residents of eighteen villages in Maharashtra’s Chanda, India. Experts say the move will improve access to primary healthcare without adequate medical facilities.

Adani Foundation Expands Healthcare Access to Rural Communities

The Adani Foundation said these mobile health units will strengthen healthcare delivery in remote areas. The initiative focuses on bringing medical services directly to communities with infrastructure challenges.

“Welcoming a new lifeline on wheels! We have flagged off a Mobile Health Care Unit (MHCU) in Maharashtra’s Chanda. The facility will serve residents of 18 villages in the region, bringing key medical care directly to their doorstep,” said the Adani Foundation.

The mobile health unit operates across villages identified as having limited healthcare facilities. Areas to benefit are those that require residents to travel long distances.

Following the footsteps of the United Nations Development Programme that provided oxygen to Sudanese Hospitals, Adani Foundation believes medical assistance is important. By deploying a mobile solution, the foundation reduces the burden on families who struggle with transportation costs.

The mobile health unit is equipped to treat common illnesses and health concerns. It supports early diagnosis, which stops minor conditions from becoming severe.

Healthcare professionals attached to the unit are trained medical staff. Their presence helps address the immediate health needs of all patients.

The initiative shows that the Adani Foundation is prioritising community-based healthcare solutions. Mobile health services are an effective way to reach populations that are remote.

Medical Services and Expected Impact on Villagers

The mobile health unit provides basic diagnostic services and also delivers medications. Aside from these mobile units, Adani Foundation empowers students in various educational skills

“Our ‘IT on Wheels’ – an initiative of our Project Utthan – is dedicated to empowering students at the grassroots level with key computer skills & digital literacy. By bridging the digital divide, the program opens new gateways for learning for students in rural India,” said Adani Foundation

The mobile unit also helps identify patients who require specialized or advanced medical attention. Beyond medications, they are among the best NGOs that provide relief materials around the world.

Local coordination supports the effective implementation of the programme. Community members assist in spreading awareness about available services.

In Kerala,  the Adani Foundation has rolled out an eye program. This initiative will benefit many people in the Vizhinjam community.

“Over 5,000 people in Vizhinjam (Kerala) benefited from our eye care program till now. As part of the ongoing initiative, we are facilitating free screenings, referrals & distributing free spectacles – thereby empowering communities with enhanced vision & greater confidence,” said the Adani Foundation.

The rollout of the mobile health unit, digital skills, and eye care program aligns with the Adani Foundation’s healthcare strategy. The foundation continues to show leadership as one of the top charities in Southern Asia by improving access to essential services.
