Aldi joins forces with the Salvation Army for new charity partnership

Share

Aldi has announced a new nationwide partnership with The Salvation Army to support local communities through a sustainable and charitable initiative. The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket will provide Salvation Army stores with unsold, non-food Specialbuys at a reduced cost, helping to generate funds for the charity’s critical services.

This collaborative effort stems from a previous, successful year-long pilot with Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd SATCoL. Aldi’s contributed products were sold during the trial, which helped over £350,000 to aid the homeless, elderly, and underprivileged families, among others.

Providing communities charity through retail

As part of these initiatives, Aldis will distribute a variety of unused Specialbuy products, such as kitchen utensils, clothes, and home decorations to all The Salvation Army outlets throughout the country. These will then be sold through charity shops and the proceeds will be used to further enhance the charity’s community programs, which are, indeed, very useful.

Aldi’s National Sustainability Director , Luke Emery made it clear that the supermarket has clear social responsibility goals.

“It is very important for us to help our communities when we can, and being able to assist The Salvation Army is a great example. We understand and appreciate how these profits will go towards the most important purposes of the charity, aiding countless individuals around the country.”

Head of Corporate Partnerships at The Salvation Army, Kirk Bradley could not hide his enthusiasm .

“We are gratified to work with Aldi in selling some of its products in our stores. This collaboration is expected to aid in supplying an important funding base for our charity and at the same time provide exceptional products to our customers throughout the UK.”

Aldi: sustainability strategy in Communities support

Aldi’s strategic business partnerships are meant to foster charitable support. The supermarket chain has a longstanding partnership with Neighbourly, through which they transfer surplus food from their stores to be utilized by several charitable organizations.

Aldi has also provided more than 40 million meals to needy communities since the launch of the food donation program in 2019.

By partnering with The Salvation Army, Aldi continues to show their dedication to promoting sustainability, waste reduction, and social impact on the lives of people who are less privileged. This new campaign goes a long way not only in funding vital services, but also in providing more people with quality products at low prices.
