A coalition of eight Arab and Islamic nations has issued a forceful condemnation of Israel’s repeated Gaza ceasefire violations. The concurrent crisis deepens for Palestinian refugees in occupied East Jerusalem following the targeted disruption of vital UN agency services.
Coalition warns ceasefire violations threaten Trump peace plan
According to a statement posted on X, the foreign ministers of Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia released a joint statement on Saturday. They decry Israeli actions, saying they have killed and injured more than a thousand Palestinians since the truce took effect.
They warned that the violations directly threaten the political process and hinder the creation of conditions necessary for security and humanitarian stability in Gaza.
“These actions risk escalating tensions and undermining efforts aimed at consolidating calm and restoring stability,” the ministers stated.
The statement emphasized the critical timing of the breaches, coming as regional and international parties work to advance the second phase of the “Board of Peace” plan. The ministers stressed the necessity of full commitment to ensuring the success of the Trump plan’s next phase, calling for all parties to exercise utmost restraint.
UNRWA services cut amid new Israeli laws
The diplomatic condemnation coincides with a stark deterioration in services for Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem. Authorities cut off both water and electricity supplies to installations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the Shu’fat refugee camp on January 27 and 28.
According to a post on X, the cuts, which affect more than 200,000 registered Palestinian refugees in the city, mark the enforcement of amended Israeli laws passed in December 2025. UNRWA officials stated the cuts threaten thousands of vulnerable families who depend on its services.
It also warned that a full suspension of operations must be prevented, urging member states to act.
In contrast to the ongoing military support Israel receives from a key architect of the peace process, Palestinian American political analyst Khalil E. Jahshan highlighted the contradiction. He noted that the U.S. administration, which is championing the Trump-chaired “Board of Peace” to end the war, just gave Israel $6.5 billion worth of arms to continue its bloody wars throughout the region.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the Israeli government has banned Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) from operating in the Gaza Strip. This decision follows a dispute over the medical charity’s refusal to provide a list of its Palestinian and international staff to Israeli authorities.
Similarly, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has accused Israel of violating the standing Gaza ceasefire and intensifying a systematic campaign against its humanitarian operations in both Gaza and Jerusalem. The agency outlined a series of provocative actions by Israeli authorities, which it says breach international law and endanger civilian lives.
