Axis Educational Trust has marked its 30th anniversary with a spectacular gala and talent show at the North Finchley’s Arts Depot. The event that celebrated diversity, inclusion, and community achievements drew in a crowd of over 400 attendees and was held at the Nether Street venue.
Celebrating Axis Education Trust’s young talent and partnershipÂ
The highlight of the evening was the talent contest final, where the Trust’s 11 young finalists impressed the audience and the judges with their performance in music, dance, and drama. Among the event winners were Imogen Macambac, Sahana Nagusandar, Bentley Wood Glee Club, and Myla Williams, who were gifted with cash prizes ranging from £200 to £500.
During the contest, the audience members were also allowed to vote for their favorite performer hence adding to the excitement of the evening event.
Judges for the contest included prominent industry figures such as Gina Murray, Coleen Daley, Funda Hassan, and Ali Cham. The event was not just all about talent but also it recognized the remarkable contributions of young people to social action projects while celebrating their resilience and exceptional achievements.
In addition to showcasing talent, Axis Educational Trust honored its key partners through the Partnership Excellence Awards. Organizations such as Barnet Council, John Lyons Charity, City Bridge Foundation, Young Barnet Foundation, and London Youth were recognized for their invaluable support in helping the charity achieve its goals.
Reflecting on 30 years of impact
Trust Chair Hakan Gokce during the event shared the organization’s inspiring 30-year journey, highlighting its evolution from an initiative previously focused on ethnic minority support to one with a broader community-focused service. He emphasized the importance of community backing in driving their mission forward and further unveiled their plans to establish a new youth hub in East Barnet.
Councillor Rich, who attended the event, praised the charity’s impact on disadvantaged children, especially in its provision of supplementary education and mental health support.
 “The talent show is a brilliant example of what young people can achieve, proving that success is possible even without the privileges many take for granted.” He stated.Â
The gala was a testament to Axis Educational Trust’s commitment to empowering young people and fostering a sense of belonging through its community initiatives. As the organization looks to the future, it remains committed to creating more opportunities for the youth and expanding its reach within the community.
