Beyoncé’s philanthropic foundation, BeyGOOD, has urgently donated $2.5 million to aid relief efforts for the devastating wildfires tearing through Southern California. The Pacific Palisades and Eaton fires have left a trail of destruction, having already claimed 24 lives, destroyed over 12,000 structures, and burned 37,830 acres since they ignited last Tuesday amid fierce Santa Ana winds.
BeyGOOD announced the donation on Instagram. The LA Fire Relief Fund will assist families in the Altadena and Pasadena areas who lost their homes. Aid will also be provided to community centres and churches to address urgent needs.
“Los Angeles, we stand with you,” the foundation pledged, urging the public to learn more about its mission and donate via BeyGOOD.org.The foundation is also ‘committed to serving people through educational scholarships, the advocacy of internships, and access to resources for advancing entrepreneurship and small business sustainability across the country and abroad.’
Last February 2024, the star pledged another $500k to cosmetology schools and salons. She explained that the fund’ celebrates professional stylists’ influence on their hair health and the critical importance of advocating for salon community.’
Collaborative efforts amplify relief
Founded in 2013, BeyGOOD has consistently championed marginalized communities through economic equity, scholarships, internships, and entrepreneurial support. The foundation’s latest initiative, a $2.5 million donation for wildfire relief, builds on a history of impactful giving, which includes $6 million for mental health support during the COVID-19 pandemic and $500,000 to aid families facing eviction.
Other notable figures have joined the relief efforts. Paris Hilton, whose Malibu home was destroyed in the fires, donated $100,000 and launched an emergency fund through her 11:11 Media Impact nonprofit to support displaced families.
“As a mom, I can’t imagine the pain of not having a safe place for your babies,” she said. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis also pledged $1 million, while Miranda Lambert raised $200,000 for animal rescues. Corporations like Disney and Paramount have collectively contributed millions to rebuilding efforts.
Fires continue to rage
Despite widespread support, the wildfires remain primarily uncontained. The Pacific Palisades fire has burned 23,707 acres, but according to the LA Times, only 11% is contained. In comparison, the Eaton fire near Altadena and Pasadena has affected 14,117 acres; as of Sunday, it was 27% contained. CalFire has warned of worsening conditions, with gusts up to 70 mph expected to escalate fire activity through midweek.
