DOGS token to donate $4.5m in unclaimed airdrops to charities

DOGS, a memecoin on The Open Network (TON), has unveiled plans to donate over 6 billion tokens, valued at $4.5 million, to nonprofits globally. This follows the launch of its charity portal in late November, enabling registered organizations to apply for funding.

The initiative is part of DOGS’ vision to use cryptocurrency for meaningful social impact by redirecting unclaimed airdrops to charitable causes.

The platform’s charity portal reflects DOGS’ commitment to transparency and inclusivity, as it invites nonprofits worldwide to participate in its mission. Selected organizations will receive the tokens following a rigorous approval process aimed at ensuring accountability and effective use of fundsDOGS.

DOGS Partners with Best Friends Animal Society

Among the first beneficiaries of this initiative is Best Friends Animal Society, a U.S.-based nonprofit supporting homeless animals. DOGS has pledged $150,000 to this partnership to help the organization achieve its 2025 goal of a 90% no-kill benchmark in animal shelters.

DOGS founder Andrew described the collaboration as a rallying cry for the crypto community to align innovation with compassion. As part of the partnership, DOGS will fund a month of care for adopted dogs, highlighting its dedication to animal welfare.

The DOGS token draws inspiration from Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov’s iconic dog drawing, a symbol of Digital Resistance. The symbol holds historic significance, stemming from Durov’s defiance against censorship in Russia in 2011. It also embodies TON’s rebranding following Durov’s arrest in France earlier this year.

Since its airdrop launch in September, DOGS has made waves in the crypto space. The airdrop reached 17 million users on Telegram, with 42 million eligible participants.

The Dogs Mini App on Telegram has exceeded 53 million users, reflecting the project’s success in promoting both crypto adoption and animal welfare. DOGS aims to bridge the gap between technology and social responsibility, using its platform to drive awareness and action.

Spotty, DOGS’ beloved mascot originally created for a charity auction, now serves as an ambassador for Best Friends Animal Society. Spotty will feature in events and marketing campaigns, amplifying the initiative’s message and encouraging greater community involvement.

While DOGS has seen volatility in its market performance—it reached an all-time high of $0.0016 in August before dropping 54.6%—its focus on philanthropy distinguishes it in the crowded memecoin market.

By blending cryptocurrency innovation with charitable endeavors, DOGS is pioneering a new path for crypto projects, demonstrating that digital assets can fuel impactful global change.
