The Funded Traineeship at the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS is an opportunity offered by the European Union Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS for young graduates interested in international relations, diplomacy, and public service. The program provides practical experience in political analysis, reporting, and diplomatic engagement within a multilateral environment in Abuja, Nigeria.
About the EU Delegation Traineeship
This traineeship is hosted within the Political, Press, and Information (PPI) Section of the EU Delegation. It provides participants with firsthand exposure to how the European Union engages with Nigeria and the wider ECOWAS region. Trainees will support political reporting, communication activities, and diplomatic coordination with government institutions, civil society, and international partners.
Responsibilities
Selected trainees may:
- Assist in drafting reports on political, economic, and regional developments
- Support communication activities including press releases and social media content
- Help organize meetings, events, and official visits
- Contribute to public diplomacy and outreach initiatives
- Monitor regional developments and prepare briefings for EU leadership
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a Nigerian citizen currently residing in Abuja
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Have less than one year of professional experience after graduation
- Have no prior EU institutional experience exceeding six weeks
- Demonstrate strong interest in international relations and diplomacy

Selection Process
