An Israeli drone strike has targeted a Lebanese Red Cross paramedic ambulance in the southern town of Beit Yahoun. The drone strike killed a paramedic and wounded another emergency worker.
Lebanese Red Cross condemns ‘direct targeting’ of marked ambulance
According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry and the Lebanese Red Cross, the paramedic, Hassan Bedawi, died in the attack. Another colleague also sustained minor injuries and has been transferred to Tebnine Governmental Hospital.

The organisation condemned what it called a clear violation of humanitarian principles. It noted that the ambulance bore clear Red Cross markings and that its team had coordinated safe passage with a United Nations peacekeeping mission before the strike.
“This evening, while carrying out a humanitarian mission on the road to Beit Yahoun, Lebanese Red Cross teams came under direct targeting from an Israeli drone, resulting in the martyrdom of paramedic Hassan Bedawi,” the statement read.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies also condemned the strike. They insist that humanitarian workers must be protected under all circumstances.
Over 2,000 killed in Lebanon since Israel-Hezbollah war began
According to the Health Ministry, since the onset of the latest war between Israel and Hezbollah, Israeli strikes have killed 2,055 people in Lebanon. The dead include 252 women, 165 children, and 87 medical workers.
Additionally, another 6,588 people have been wounded.
Responding to the attack, Amal Mudalli, a former ambassador to the United Nations, said this is not acceptable.
“A Lebanese Red Cross car was hit by an Israeli drone, killing one medic and INJURING another. Targeting the Red Cross is against international law,” she explained.
In January 2025, a deadly Israeli drone strike on a charity Centre facility in Khan Younis, Southern Gaza, claimed the lives of six Palestinians, including journalist Ahmad Al-Shayah and Ali Youssef Al-Maghrabi, the spokesperson for the Prisoners’ Media Office. Medical sources confirmed that 10 other civilians were also injured in the attack, with several in critical condition.
