The Role
The MND Association is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join the organization as Head of Services and Partnerships – North of England. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving the delivery of high-quality, coordinated services across the region while strengthening partnerships with health, social care, and voluntary sector organizations.
The successful candidate will lead regional service development, oversee service transformation initiatives, and ensure that support for people living with and affected by MND is equitable, person-centered, and impactful. Working at both strategic and operational levels, the role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to influence stakeholders across complex health and social care systems.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Leadership and Service Delivery
- Lead the implementation of a high-impact regional services and partnerships plan
- Drive the delivery of coordinated, high-quality support services across the North of England
- Embed the Integrated Support Model across regional and national service provision
- Ensure services remain person-centered, equitable, and responsive to local needs
Partnership Development and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and strengthen relationships with health, social care, and voluntary sector partners
- Develop productive partnerships that improve outcomes for people affected by MND
- Maintain strong relationships with volunteers, healthcare professionals, and community stakeholders
- Influence senior leaders and decision-makers across systems and organizations
Team Leadership and Performance Management
- Lead, support, and develop a high-performing regional team
- Provide leadership to geographically dispersed and remote staff
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Support staff development and organizational objectives
Governance, Safeguarding and Service Improvement
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Manager for the region
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, governance, and quality assurance requirements
- Use insight, feedback, and data to drive service improvements
- Contribute to national leadership priorities and strategic initiatives
Financial and Operational Management
- Manage an annual regional budget of approximately £750,000
- Ensure effective allocation of resources and financial oversight
- Support operational planning and performance monitoring
- Deliver services within budget while maximizing impact and value
Requirements
- Excellent knowledge of UK health and social care systems
- Significant experience leading service transformation and program delivery
- Proven experience managing and leading remote teams
- Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills
- Experience influencing senior leaders and system-wide change
- Strong financial management and operational leadership experience
- Knowledge of safeguarding, governance, and quality assurance frameworks
- Experience designing and delivering person-centered services
- Understanding of integrated service delivery models
- Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and leadership capabilities
