The Role
MAGNA is seeking a Project Coordinator to join its team in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This position plays a critical leadership role in overseeing mission logistics, technical operations, security management, human resources coordination, and project implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Coordination
- Participate in the development and revision of annual project plans, budgets, and Emergency Preparation Plans.
- Monitor project implementation and ensure activities align with organizational objectives and operational standards.
- Support mission-wide coordination and contribute to effective program delivery.
Logistics and Technical Management
- Oversee logistics and technical operations including construction and rehabilitation projects, procurement, warehousing, transportation, communications, water and sanitation systems, infrastructure, vehicles, equipment, and installations.
- Ensure compliance with MAGNA standards, protocols, and procedures across all technical activities.
- Provide technical guidance and operational support to logistics teams.
Facilities and Information Technology
- Ensure offices and accommodation facilities remain functional, safe, and appropriately maintained.
- Oversee installation, maintenance, and proper use of IT systems, software, communications equipment, and backup systems.
- Ensure reliable communication between headquarters, project sites, operational bases, and field teams.
Security and Risk Management
- Support the implementation and monitoring of mission security policies and procedures.
- Define and monitor technical aspects of risk reduction measures.
- Contribute to evacuation plans, contingency planning, transportation security, communications security, and staff protection measures.
- Monitor compliance with security protocols across all mission locations.
Stakeholder Representation
- Build and maintain effective relationships with national authorities, international organizations, NGOs, and humanitarian partners.
- Represent MAGNA professionally in meetings, negotiations, and coordination forums.
- Support advocacy efforts and contribute to strengthening partnerships that enhance program impact.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of 24 months of experience in humanitarian aid, project management, monitoring and evaluation, or NGO operations.
- Experience managing teams in humanitarian or development settings.
- Strong English language proficiency.
- Fluency in the mission language (French) is required.
- Experience engaging with national authorities, NGOs, United Nations agencies, and international partners.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to represent an organization professionally with external counterparts.
- Capacity to manage and oversee security-related issues.
- Understanding of humanitarian advocacy and its importance.
- Ability to work effectively within multicultural teams.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
