The Role
WCS Canada is seeking a Project and Budget Manager for a full-time, temporary term from June 2026 to February 2027 to provide leave coverage during a critical period of financial systems transformation. This hybrid Toronto-based role combines financial systems implementation with hands-on budget and program management support for the Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA) Program.
The position plays a central role in supporting the rollout of Sage Intacct Planning (SIP) while strengthening internal budgeting tools, processes, and user adoption across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Implementation and Process Improvement
- Support the rollout and configuration of Sage Intacct Planning (SIP)
- Work closely with internal staff and external vendors to ensure effective integration
- Act as an internal resource for Sage Intacct and SIP guidance
- Develop user guides and lead staff training sessions
- Drive change management efforts to encourage smooth adoption
- Identify process gaps and recommend practical system improvements
- Provide ongoing support and optimization after implementation
Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA) Program Financial Management
- Oversee the annual budget and forecasting for the KBA Program
- Monitor project expenditures to ensure grant and funder compliance
- Prepare monthly expense documentation and financial reports
- Generate financial insights to inform program decisions
- Track proposal, reporting, and grant deadlines
- Support procurement, purchasing, and contract administration
- Maintain secure financial and program documentation
- Coordinate logistics and travel support for program activities
- Serve as a liaison between the KBA Program and internal finance and operations teams
Organizational Contribution
- Support reconciliation efforts and respectful collaboration with Indigenous Peoples
- Contribute to an inclusive, equitable, and supportive workplace culture
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in financial, budgeting, or project management roles
- Direct experience with Sage Intacct and Sage Intacct Planning
- Strong background in budgeting, expense tracking, and financial reporting
- Experience managing contracts and funder agreements
- Advanced Excel skills including formulas, summaries, and Power Query
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools including SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to clearly communicate complex financial information
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving ability
- Capacity to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
- Comfort working in a technology-focused, evolving environment
- Interest in conservation and environmental protection
