Koller Engineering, a Yeovil-based company, will donate £1 from every wheelchair restraint sold in 2025 to St Margaret’s Hospice Care, the hospice has been named the company’s charity of the year. The funds will help the hospice continue supporting patients, families, and carers in Somerset with life-limiting illnesses.

“We are delighted to name St Margaret’s Hospice Care as our charity of the year for 2025. Their compassionate support has touched many local families, including my own, and we are honoured to contribute to their incredible work.” Leoni Mullis, a director at Koller, said.

This Somerset-based charity provides palliative and end-of-life care to patients and their families. It offers a range of services, including a 24-hour advice line, community nursing teams, specialists in inpatient units, day hospices, therapy services, social and spiritual care, and bereavement support.

“By donating £1 from every wheelchair restraint sold, we hope to make a meaningful impact and give back to a charity so close to our hearts.”

St. Margaret’s Hospice Care: More than four decades of compassionate care

For more than 40 years, St Margaret’s Hospice Care has been helping patients, families, and carers across Somerset facing a life-limiting illness. Their range of services includes Sunflower Day Centers, which support patients who are well enough to live at home but would like to take advantage of the specialist support Margaret’s can offer during the day. Their Family Support Service provides support for families with young children and teenagers both during the patient’s illness and after bereavement.

They also have an Adviceline that anyone can access, including patients, carers, family members, and healthcare professionals; according to them, you do not have to be known to St Margaret to use the service. Their specialist nursing community team provides care across Somerset, whether in people’s homes or community settings.

Like St Margaret’s Hospice Care, Weldmar Hospicecare is a Dorset charity providing specialist end-of-life care for adults with a life-limiting illness and support for their loved ones. Their compassionate approach supports patients and their families in the community, at home, and in their hospice.

They have a dedicated team of nurses, doctors, therapists, social workers, and counsellors. They aim to ensure all adults needing end-of-life care in Dorset have access to excellent services delivered when required, meeting the individual needs of patients and their loved ones.

Kerry Baillie, St Margaret’s community partnership manager, said they are delighted that Koller has chosen to support St Margaret’s Hospice as their charity of the year and that their generosity will make a tremendous difference to the lives of their patients and their families.

The partnership between Koller Engineering, a Yeovil-based company, and St Margaret’s Hospice underlines the power of local businesses supporting vital healthcare services. It ensures that end-of-life care remains accessible and compassionate for those in need.
