A donation of £1,000 from Lidl, one of Britain’s biggest supermarket chains, has been made to a youth football team in South Lanarkshire to purchase vital training equipment and gear.

Blantyre Victoria 2013 Whites Football Team will use the funds to buy new fitness kits, training equipment, and new footballs to help the players be more active and develop their skills.

This donation is part of Lidl’s ongoing efforts to promote healthy lifestyles for children in Scotland. It coincided with the opening of a new Blantyre store on Whistleberry Road on February 13, which was a multi-million-pound investment which created 10 new jobs.

The young footballers were treated as special guests and were able to try out the store’s newly installed bakery.

Ross Jackson, regional head of property at Lidl GB, stated the company’s focus on community work suggests their commitment.

“The work of local young people’s sports teams is incredibly important because it helps to integrate children and lead a healthy lifestyle. We are very impressed by the devotion of Blantyre Victoria’s coaches and volunteers and their initiatives, which we are delighted to help with, said Jackson again.

Angela McMillan, chairperson of the Blantyre Victoria Youth Football Team, expressed her gratitude.

“We’re incredibly thankful for Lidl’s support. This donation will make a real difference, providing our young players with the training wear and equipment they need to develop their skills and enjoy the game,” she said.
