Now a mother of four, Clare Brophy from Menston is managing a Dance Studio in Bradford while also serving as the president of a company based in Guiseley called Handicare. On March 26 she will join the annual mission with Yorkshire Aid Convoy, where Clare will deliver essential humanitarian aid and work on upgrading the facility.

Clare will be joining one of the engineers from Handicare, helping with the aid convoy. As part of this campaign, Handicare is donating straight stairlifts. Their trade partners support the campaign with profiling beds, rise and recline chairs, daily living aids and specialist footwear.

Bringing comfort through Yorkshire Aid convoy

The care home, described as “unfit for purpose,” has long struggled with inadequate resources and poor living conditions. Yorkshire Aid Convoy, founded in 2002, has been dedicated to collecting, transporting, and distributing humanitarian aid across Eastern Europe.

This year, the mission will not only provide vital equipment but also focus on improving the facility’s infrastructure, ensuring that elderly residents can live with dignity. Brophy emphasized the importance of taking action where it’s needed most, stating,

“There’s a saying, ‘Do all the good you can, for all the people you can, in all the ways you can, for as long as you can.’ And that’s exactly what we’re trying to do.” Brophy said

She also described the conditions at the care home as heartbreaking and further stressed her determination in helping to improve the quality of life of the residents.

An impactful mission

After the care home has received the donations and current renovations, the project will shift in focus from offering immediate relief to utilizing the donations in order to enhance the mobility, comfort and well-being of the residents within the care home, ensuring a more comfortable environment long term.

Furthermore, the organization strongly believes that even more businesses and individuals should sponsor similar humanitarian projects in an effort to emphasize that every little thing one does really does count. With its best volunteers and strong partnerships, the Yorkshire Aid Convoy will continue to support their cause to help those who need it the most.
