Morebus is powering dreams for local causes

Share

Morebus, the Poole-based bus operator, again supports local charities, schools, and community groups through its dedicated community fund. With a mission to give back, Morebus is offering financial aid, free travel, marketing assistance, and even the use of its buses for events to those making a difference across the region.

Morebus extends a helping hand to those who need it most

The origins of More buses can be traced back to 1916, when a bus company called Bournemouth & District Motor Services was founded. As the network of routes expanded, this became Hants & Dorset Motor Services in July 1920.

Hants & Dorset has always been highly regarded for its reliable and friendly service. In the 1930s, the Southern Railway bought into the company, which became state-owned in 1948.

From 1 January 1969, Hants & Dorset became part of the National Bus Company. In 1972, the bus livery was changed from the longstanding and familiar green to poppy red.

In April 1983, Hants & Dorset was divided into smaller units, one of which was the Wilts & Dorset Bus Company. This company operated in the present Morebus network and its sister company, Salisbury Reds, in Wiltshire.

The Poole-based bus operator’s community fund is a dedicated resource for backing local causes with funding, marketing help, free travel, or using its buses for events.

“We play an integral role within our local community, providing bus services across the region – and that means a lot to our team. In addition, we want to support and raise awareness for those doing excellent work on behalf of those living here. ‘’Morebus head of communications, Nikki Honer, said.

A lifeline for local causes

The Morebus community fund is open to everyone—from charities to sports teams—and encourages anyone who needs a helping hand, however big or small, to apply. Applicants can apply all year round, with Morebus funding and support donated during March and September.

As Morebus strengthens its role in community engagement, this initiative continues to provide crucial support to the people and groups working tirelessly to improve the lives of those around them. With Morebus at the forefront of local giving, charities, schools, and community groups have a reliable partner to help them move forward.
