Share

Popular media personality Nedu Wazobia has fired back at social media critic VeryDarkMan, serving him a pre-action notice over alleged defamatory statements. The allegation, which has gained traction on social media, alleged that Nedu mismanaged donations for his charity initiative, the Nedu Scholarship Foundation (NDSCHF).

VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, is a Nigerian activist, critic, and social media influencer. In a post on his Instagram page, he disclosed that Nedu’s legal representatives had served him legal documents.

Otse gained mainstream attention in 2022 following his associations with Nigerian celebrities. He gained more attention after uploading controversial videos on his social media handle, particularly on Instagram. He is known for exposing fraud and corruption on his platforms.

Nedu Wazobia denies allegations, calls out fake audio evidence

Nedu spoke at a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, February 20, where he firmly denied the accusations levied against him of fraud and financial misconduct surrounding his charity initiative. The allegations against Nedu Wazobia, which have been making rounds on social media, claim that he misappropriated donations meant for the scholarship foundation. However, Nedu and his management team have come to debunk the claims, saying they are unsubstantiated and stressing that Nedu personally never handled any of the funds.

In the same vein, Nedu has debunked the audio released by the Very Dark Man on his Instagram handle. According to the Very Dark Man, rumours say he paid someone two million naira to generate the voice note using artificial intelligence, he said this himself in a video posted on his Instagram page.

He said he had told the U.K. charity to report Nedu to the British authorities for misconduct, which has been done. According to VeryDarkMan, Nedu allegedly failed to deliver on the agreements that included billboard promotions, media awareness campaigns, and influencer partnerships to raise awareness for the scholarship program.

The money raised during the program was meant to go into the NGO’s account, but Nedu set up his account to funnel the funds.

The Very Dark Man says that he is very passionate about NGOS and that even though he has a personal vendetta against him, his fight for justice is most important to him, and he would release more voice notes; he also said that Nedu said he has a lot of friends that are drug peddlers and he wonders if they are his sponsors, but that’s by the way that what’s most important to him is Nedu releasing all the shreds of evidence that he did not breach the agreement he had with the U.K. NGO.

He also played a voice note from the U.K. NGO representative who alleged that despite their agreement, there was no evidence of the promised billboards, newspaper ads, or media awareness campaigns. According to her, Nedu was paid nearly 20,000 pounds but defaulted in fulfilling the agreement.

According to the lawyers representing Nedu and Tokindrumz Picture and Media Ltd, a 12-minute video posted by VeryDarkMan on his YouTube and Instagram pages on February 19, 2025, contained “a host of defamatory, false, and disparaging attacks and rhetoric” against their client. The video, titled “How Nedu Diverted NGO Scholarship Meant for Nigerians,” was described as false, the lawyers clarified that Nedu is not the owner of Tokindrumz but a talent under the brand.

Nedu’s lawyers have now taken an aggressive stance, demanding that VeryDarkMan retract all videos involving Nedu from his platforms within 24 hours, issue a public apology, and pay N500 million in damages for harming Nedu’s reputation. They warned that failure to comply would result in legal action.

Reacting to the notice, VeryDarkMan acknowledged the development in a video, telling his followers to brace for a legal battle.

“Nedu’s lawyers have served me notice ooo, so prepare una for a court case,” he said.

With both parties digging in for what promises to be a heated legal battle, Nigerians are eagerly watching how this high-profile case unfolds.
