Spanish tennis icon Rafa Nadal is spearheading a new charity golf initiative, Spin & Swing. This is an effort to raise funds for educational and sports programmes aiding disadvantaged children across the country.
Rafa Nadal golf charity supports over 12,000 children
According to Euro Weekly News, the 22-time Grand Slam champion announced the launch of the series. It will tee off with a two-day event at the La Manga Club in Los Belones, Cartagena, on February 26 and 27.
The proceeds from the tournament directly benefit the Rafa Nadal Foundation’s projects. This is to support vulnerable children and adolescents in Palma, Valencia, and Madrid.
The opening event will bring together 15 corporate teams, each comprising six players. Participants will enjoy premium amenities, including gourmet offerings from Restaurante Cabaña Buenavista.
Additionally, the foundation says it has supported over 12,000 people and over 1,400 beneficiaries per year.
“We work with a strong conviction that sports and education are transformative tools with which we can achieve a better world,” the foundation said.
Golf passion drives nationwide tournament series for social change
The Spin & Swing series will feature four stops in total, with subsequent tournaments scheduled in Madrid in April. Also, it is scheduled in Santander in June, and Girona in October.
Nadal, widely celebrated as one of tennis’s all-time greats, credited his passion for golf as the inspiration behind the initiative. He revealed that the challenge of organising a golf tour for him and his team at the foundation motivated them to bring the project to life.
The Rafa Nadal Foundation focuses on harnessing sports and education as tools for social transformation. It is particularly for children in underserved communities with limited resources.
Through events like Spin & Swing, the foundation raises crucial funds for its ongoing projects while promoting healthy physical activity.
In another development, Jersey Royals have raised £1,900 for a local food and nutrition charity through a potato adoption scheme organised by the Jersey Royal Company.
Similarly, hundreds of participants took to the streets of Monaco for the 15th annual Pink Ribbon 5km charity Walk. The participants rallied to raise awareness of women’s cancers and promote the life-saving importance of early detection.
