St. Joseph Catholic School students help raise funds for charity

St. Joseph Catholic School students have donated 700 pairs of shoes to House of Hope, which will help the charity raise funds. The charity currently has a goal for a shoe collection fundraiser, which the donation from the students will help meet.

The students made efforts to gather the shoes from their local community and other communities around them. Their efforts generated 28 bags of shoes, with each bag typically containing about 25 pairs.

One of the missions of the school is to focus on how to love its neighbours. The principal of the school, Kathleen Haslett, suggested the idea of the students contributing to the House of Hope fundraising initiative.

David Dean, a teacher at the school, commended the students’ efforts. He noted that they put in the effort to advertise, market, and distribute the collection boxes for the shoes.

The students formed groups that made the posters, decorated the boxes for collection, and also shared the need with people. The school also publicised the effort through its website and Facebook.

The donation by St. Joseph Catholic School students will help the House of Hope achieve its shoe collection fundraising goal. The shoe collection fundraiser is a year-round initiative.

Vicky Whitford, the volunteer coordinator, appreciated the efforts made by the students to collect and donate the shoes.

“It’s just a blessing to us too and encourages people that live here that together, we can do things that can change the world,” she said.

Local initiatives contributing to humanitarian efforts

Community efforts play important roles in contributing to humanitarian initiatives. Local associations, schools, and charities have helped humanitarian initiatives reach people who need them. Schools like St. Joseph Catholic School, with their charity efforts, help humanitarian efforts.

Moreover, the school has said that it is developing projects to help victims of Hurricane Melissa. The school has also participated in other charity activities.

For instance, the school donated $1,000 to the Salvation Army Red Kettle. Every class in the school also participates in different service projects which range from making ornaments to donating food.
