Suffolk Building Society extends until 2026, a charitable program supporting four Suffolk charities. The initiative started in 2022 and will provide £200,000 alongside staff volunteering hours, fundraising events, and engagement with its 60,000 members.
The total funding is £200,000 over five years.
Challenging times lifeline
The society’s 10 locations throughout the county serve as hubs for charity promotion and collection points for donated goods. As part of its Safe Homes for Suffolk campaign, the society collaborated with expert charities specializing in homelessness, isolation, and domestic abuse.
Ipswich Housing Action Group, Emmaus Suffolk, and Lighthouse Women’s Aid are the charities. Suffolk Wildlife Trust was chosen for its Saving Suffolk campaign.
“When we partnered with these four excellent organizations in 2022, we knew they were facing challenges accessing funding, and the cost-of-living crisis has exacerbated the situation. It therefore made sense to continue these successful partnerships for another two years.” CEO of Suffolk Building Society, Richard Norrington, said.
Ipswich Housing Action Group CEO Jools Ramsey-Palmer also emphasized that their breakfast-by-invitation service relies on food donations, so he’s thrilled that four branches are acting as donation stations.

Suffolk Building Society’s impact
Vernon Building Society’s new CEO, Darren Ditchburn, in the same vein, has expressed his enthusiasm for the organization’s £100,000 donation to charities in Wirral. He noted that the organization will intensify its support for local charities, as the funding supports charities focused on poverty relief and community development.
Suffolk Building Society’s charitable program’s extension, with its 10 locations throughout the county serving as hubs for charity promotion and collection points for donated goods, continues to provide opportunities for kindness. This selfless act exuded by the Suffolk Building Society is noteworthy and worth emulating.
