The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program provides outstanding secondary school teachers with a fully funded professional development opportunity in the United States. The programme strengthens teaching practice, builds leadership capacity, and promotes cross-cultural exchange. Participants gain advanced instructional skills and global perspectives that enhance classroom learning and positively impact their schools and communities.

About the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program

The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, offers a six-week academic and professional experience at a U.S. university. The programme focuses on strengthening instructional strategies, student-centred learning, curriculum development, and classroom assessment.

Participants take part in intensive seminars alongside international peers and education experts. A supervised practicum forms a core component of the programme, allowing teachers to observe, co-teach, and collaborate with U.S. secondary school educators. This hands-on experience enables participants to apply new methods and reflect on classroom practice. After completing the programme, eligible participants may compete for small grants to support classroom projects, teacher training activities, or school-based initiatives, subject to available funding.

Funding Size

  • Typical grant amount: approximately $10,000
  • Maximum award: up to $15,000
  • Project duration supported: six weeks of academic training

The funding covers transportation, visa support, housing, meals, health insurance, academic programme fees, and a daily maintenance allowance.
