Islamic State West Africa Province fighters attacked a military base and a camp for displaced people in the town of Rann. Three UN aid workers were killed and three female health workers were abducted from clinics serving a population that had more than doubled with people fleeing the insurgency. Some accounts put the number of humanitarian workers killed higher. The UN and MSF withdrew staff from the town afterwards.
