Car bomb destroys UN offices in Algiers

A car bomb detonated between the UN offices and the UNHCR building in the Hydra district of Algiers, collapsing part of the UNDP block and levelling the refugee agency's premises. Seventeen UN staff were killed. A second bomb went off ten minutes earlier near the Constitutional Court, and a number of Algerians outside the UN compound were also killed or injured.
