One aid worker kidnapped in Kabul-Jalalabad highway

An international female NGO worker was abducted while traveling on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway. Update: A statement made by the Australian Foreign Minister, Julie Bishop, on August 29th, confirms that the aid worker was freed in August, four months after her kidnapping. Although the Minister did not provide further details, Afghanistan's National Directorate of Security mentioned in the media that the aid worker was freed as a result of a special operation.
