Seven UN local implementing partners were abducted in North Kivu on August 2nd, 2018. The convoy of two vehicles was stopped by armed assailants East of Masisi center. The Congolese nationals were kidnapped but the two drivers and their vehicles were released. On August 3rd, two of the seven staff members were released after being seriously assaulted. They were treated for their wounds in Masisi. Reportedly a ransom has been requested for the remaining staff members. Means of attack recorded as kidnapping. Context ambush. Actor Not applicable.
