Three MSF staff shot dead in central Tigray

Three MSF staff travelling in a clearly marked vehicle to reach people wounded in fighting south of Abi Adi were shot dead on 24 June 2021. Their bodies were found the next day a short distance from the empty car. An MSF internal review published in 2025 concluded the attack was an intentional and targeted killing of clearly identified aid workers and placed an Ethiopian National Defence Forces convoy on the same road at the time. No investigation findings have been released by the authorities.
