US airstrikes destroy MSF trauma centre in Kunduz
Kunduz, Afghanistan Medecins Sans Frontieres
14 killed
27 wounded
A United States AC-130 gunship struck the MSF trauma centre in Kunduz repeatedly over roughly an hour in the early hours of 3 October 2015. Forty two people were killed in total, comprising 14 MSF staff, 24 patients and four family carers, and MSF confirmed 27 staff injured. The 92 bed facility was the only trauma hospital in northeastern Afghanistan and was destroyed. MSF called for an independent investigation by the International Humanitarian Fact Finding Commission, which the United States did not consent to.
