Armed men attacked Butembo University Hospital during a coordination meeting on the Ebola response, killing a WHO epidemiologist and injuring two other people. The outbreak response in North Kivu faced sustained community hostility and repeated attacks on treatment centres. Sixteen people were later sentenced to death over the killing.
