About
The Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation was established in 2011 to preserve and advance the legacy of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and his wife, Leah Tutu. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, it seeks to nurture courageous leadership and encourage people to confront discrimination, inequality, prejudice and conflict through dialogue, advocacy and public engagement.
Three pillars shape its work: Learning from Legacy, Advocacy for Societal Healing and Leading for Humanity. Through exhibitions, educational programs, public discussions and leadership initiatives, the foundation shares lessons from the Tutus’ lives while encouraging new generations to promote justice, peace and reconciliation. Its work reaches school learners, young people, activists and wider communities, with a particular emphasis on developing moral courage and creating spaces where difficult social issues can be addressed constructively.
