Seven crew members were recently rescued by the U.S forces, a Navy ship and Coast Guard rescued from an Iranian cargo vessel called ‘Shayesteh’ that began sinking in the Arabian Gulf with the help on February 18. The vessel had a Qatari flag on it, and while in a region of sea that bordered Qatar and Iran, the ship developed a moderate tilt and sent out a mayday call before sinking.

When the U.S. The Navy ship and Coast Guard Cutter arrived at the location of the emergency promptly, the seven crew members aboard the vessel, who were five Iranians and two Indians, had already begun evacuating themselves. The report has confirmed that though medical assistance was provided to them on the coast guard, none of the crew members sustained any serious injuries.

Investigation underway as authorities seek answers following the U.S. forces rescue

Though the issue was immediately taken care of, the reason for the incident is still being looked into. SHAYESTEH was confirmed sunk by the Central Command of the United States, and what caused its distress is still unknown.

“The quick response of our forces ensured the safety of all crew members,” a U.S. military official stated. “We remain committed to maritime security and responding to emergencies at sea.”

The rescue action depicts the continuous work being done by US forces in the Arabian Gulf, which is very important for trade around the entire world. In recent years, this location has faced numerous maritime threats, which is why emergency response time should be reduced to protect both the sailors and the cargo.

As the investigations continue, maritime authorities need to find out if the sinking of the vessel was caused by an external factor, structural defects, or mechanical issues. In the meantime, the crew that was rescued has started giving testimony to the authorities regarding what happened before their ship sank.

In the region, the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy have pledged to further continue the assistance for troubled vessels and safe movement of ships across the region. Progress on the investigation will be released when additional information is available.
