About the United Nations International Law Fellowship Programme

The International Law Fellowship Programme supports professionals whose daily responsibilities involve international legal matters. Participants take part in an intensive academic programme delivered by senior UN legal officers, scholars, and practitioners. Key topics are treaty law, international dispute settlement, law of the sea, international criminal law, and human rights law.

The fellowship combines lectures, interactive discussions, case studies, and practical simulations. Fellows gain direct exposure to how international law operates within multilateral institutions and international courts. In addition, the programme promotes peer exchange among professionals from diverse legal systems and improves professional networks.

The fellowship is fully funded for selected participants, allowing them to attend the residential training without financial burden. Fellows are expected to return to their home institutions and apply the knowledge gained to strengthen national capacity in international legal affairs.
