Washington offers the most generous financial aid in the nation, Gov Ferguson says

Washington State Governor, Bob Ferguson says the state provides America’s most generous college financial aid. Ferguson revealed he and his wife completed the FAFSA form in 15 minutes with their twins.

Governor Ferguson urges families to complete FAFSA

In a broadcast video, Ferguson urged all Washington families to apply for the available funds.

The Governor launched the Washington Completes FAFSA campaign in September 2025. He signed an executive order alongside RHS seniors at the time, unlocking access to crucial financial support.

He added that the funds cover college tuition, apprenticeships, and post-high school training. However, students and parents must complete the application first.

Findings by Charity Journal reveal that Washington offers exceptionally generous state aid through the WA Grant.

Washington financial aid covers half of households despite low application rates

Nearly half of Washington households qualify for this grant program. The WA Grant also supports registered apprenticeships and on-the-job training.

Despite this generosity, Washington’s FAFSA completion rate remains low. The state has ranked among the bottom five nationally for years.

Ferguson emphasized that completing the form unlocks this aid. He explained that he wants every eligible student to access this money.

“You will never know how much aid you qualify for unless you apply,” Ferguson stated.

In reaction , Isaac Kwakye praised the Governor’s direct support for the initiative. Kwakye added that completing financial aid applications is a critical step for students.

Meanwhile, Invest For Kids Chicago Grants 2026 provides eligible Chicago nonprofits with funding of up to $200,000. The grant seeks to support young people from low-income households by giving them access to education from early childhood to college.
