Charities across the West Midlands have another chance to secure much-needed funding as the Movement for Good Awards, led by the Benefact Group, returns for its seventh year. With over £1 million to be shared, residents are being encouraged to nominate their favorite charities for a chance to receive a £1,000 donation.
West Midlands joins in receiving community support fund
The Movement for Good Awards initiative has funded and supported charities throughout the world with thousands of nominations since its origin in 2019 and now enables the general public to nominate lesser-known local and national charities for funding. Grants of up to £5,000 are available during special sector-focused rounds, with winners chosen through a random draw.

In the spirit of transparency, complete details of such draws are on the awards’ website which everyone can access.
Over the years, thousands of British and Irish charities have benefited from the Movement for Good Awards which has funded over £6 million worth of charity projects. Among the most supported organizations in the West Midlands are The Hospice Charity Partnership and Dudley Zoo Development Trust, both of which received considerable funding due to the immense public nominations.
Making each donation count
Commenting on these nominations, Mark Hews, Group Chief Executive, Benefact Group, underlined the capability of Benefact Group owned by a charity and its intentions, further stressing its philanthropic focus.
“As a business owned by a charity, giving back isn’t just something we do, it’s who we are. Every penny of our available profits goes toward supporting good causes, and as we continue to grow, so does our ability to make a difference,” he explained.
He also noted that even a modest grant could be transformative for many organizations.
“A £1,000 donation might seem small, but for grassroots charities, it can mean new equipment, expanded services, or simply keeping their doors open to those who rely on them,” he added.
Benefact Group has secured its place as one of the most significant corporate givers in the UK. The group has earned this reputation not just because they donated over £230 million since 2014, but also because they received recognition as the third largest corporate donor in the country.
West Midlands residents can now submit nominations, which will allow their favorite charities to receive funding. This initiative serves a dual purpose as these organizations directly impact their respective communities and residents have the chance to guide aid to where it is critically needed.
