Cancer patients often struggle with costs that begin after they leave the hospital, from transport to medical appointments to help with household chores during recovery. In an interview with Charity Journal, DaBella said its $15,000 donation to the Arizona Foundation for Cancer is intended to keep those practical support services available as demand for assistance continues to rise.
DaBella backs Arizona Foundation for Cancer support services
DaBella, a nationwide home services company, donated $15,000 to the Arizona Foundation for Cancer, a nonprofit that helps patients manage the practical challenges of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. The funding will support services including nutrition counselling, support groups, gas cards, wigs and prosthetics, and post-surgical home cleaning.
The nonprofit has reported a sharp increase in demand, with monthly applications for assistance rising by about 30% compared with the same period last year.
Asked how the organisation is responding, DaBella told Charity Journal that the Arizona Foundation for Cancer is reallocating resources while strengthening its review process to prioritise patients with the greatest needs.
“They’re also actively looking for new partners, other organisations willing to come alongside them through donations,” the company told Charity Journal, adding that additional community support will be essential if the nonprofit is to keep pace with growing demand.
Medical treatment is only one part of a cancer diagnosis. Many patients also face financial and practical challenges that insurance coverage often does not address, including transportation, specialised nutrition, household assistance, and emotional support.
For patients recovering from surgery or undergoing intensive treatment, those services can determine whether they can attend appointments, maintain adequate nutrition, or recover safely at home. Nonprofits such as the Arizona Foundation for Cancer have increasingly stepped in to bridge those gaps as demand for support grows.
The organisation directs donations toward patient services, allowing contributions to fund programmes that directly assist individuals and families navigating cancer treatment.
DaBella prioritises nonprofits with direct community impact
In response to questions from Charity Journal, DaBella said it selects nonprofit partners based on their ability to deliver measurable support within the communities where the company operates.
“We look for nonprofits that put the majority of donated dollars toward the actual mission rather than staff, payroll, or building costs,” the company told Charity Journal. “The organisations that rise to the top are the ones where the money goes where it’s supposed to go.”
DaBella added that it first considers organisations it already works with across the states where it operates before identifying other local nonprofits that demonstrate strong community impact.
As cancer support organisations face increasing demand for non-medical assistance, sustaining services such as transportation, nutrition counselling, and post-surgical care will likely depend on continued partnerships between nonprofits, local businesses, and community donors.
