The event, held Sept. 30 to Oct. 1 in Irving, Texas, brought the partnership’s total fundraising to more than $19 million since it began two decades ago. The funds have supported blood cancer research, patient services and advocacy programs aimed at advancing treatments and cures.

During the event, Builders FirstSource CEO Peter Jackson and Chief Operating Officer-Designate Mike Hiller presented Blood Cancer United with a $250,000 check on behalf of the Builders FirstSource Foundation, a private charitable foundation launched earlier this year.

The gathering featured a keynote address by Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary, who shared stories from his childhood in Houston and his career in professional football. Attendees also heard from Sarah Manthey, whose four-year-old daughter, known as “Mighty Mabel,” is receiving cancer treatment.

Builders FirstSource credited its customers, employees and supplier partners with helping sustain the annual fundraising effort.

“We are grateful to our supplier partners, customers, and team members whose generosity brings that purpose to life through their ongoing support of Blood Cancer United. For 20 years, they have helped advance the fight against blood cancers, and we are proud of the impact we have made together.”

Blood Cancer United President and CEO Dr. Andy Kolb said the 20-year partnership had helped advance lifesaving research and patient support programs.

The nonprofit will continue receiving support from Builders FirstSource through additional fundraising initiatives later this year, including Light The Night walks in Dallas and other locations across the United States.
