Kuwait-based Namaa Charity Launches Water Project In War-Torn Gaza

Namaa Charity, a non-profit based in Kuwait, has launched an initiative to provide potable water for residents of Gaza amid a dire shortage in the war-torn region.

According to a report, Namaa Charity has distributed 95 tankers to Gaza, each with a capacity of 4,000 liters. Namaa Charity CEO Saad Al-Otaibi disclosed that the distribution’s impact will be far-reaching, as a single tanker can provide water for 250 families.

“Water is not just a need, but a lifeline, and its absence exposes families to serious health risks,” said Al-Otaibi.

For context, Namaa Charity’s donation will directly impact 23,750 households in Gaza. Meanwhile, Al-Otaibi noted that a proper distribution plan will see the initiative reach nearly 150,000 persons in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Otaibi disclosed that only partners accredited by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs will distribute the trucks, ensuring that “every liter” reaches Gaza residents. He hinged his belief in the project on Kuwait’s long streak of efficient and high-quality relief work.

The charity CEO revealed plans to launch a string of water-related projects in Northern Gaza to alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in the region. While not expressly disclosed, the plans revolve around the rehabilitation of wells, installation of small-scale desalination units, and support for rainwater harvesting systems.

Namaa Charity: A string of relief efforts in Gaza

Namaa Charity has implemented a series of humanitarian projects in the Gaza Strip since the start of the crisis. The non-profit has previously distributed living tents for thousands of displaced families in Gaza, earning it accolades from the Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water.

Apart from Namaa Charity, several Kuwait-based non-profits have increased their activity levels in Gaza. The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) has emerged as one of the most active organizations, with Al-Nouri Charity Society also rolling out a streak of projects.

Other Kuwait-based charities setting the pace in the region include Al-Najat Charity, Zakat House, and Direct Aid

“Kuwait has been and will remain at the forefront of countries supporting the Palestinian people, and its humanitarian message is steadfast and unchanging, no matter how dire the circumstances,” added Al-Otaibi.
